Phonics
Today we are focusing on the digraph 'ss'. Please see the phonics powerpoint for ideas of CVC words that you can practice segmenting and blending.
Our game is called 'Who can cross the river?'. I have made a river here using a sheet- you could be more creative at home! I have placed letter cards as 'stepping stones' (Pieces of paper with the letters on would be fine!). The children will cross the river by stepping on the letters and saying the sound as they do. When they get to the other side they blend the sounds together to read the word. Here, the word is l-e-g...leg. Repeat with as many words as you like!
Maths
We are learning about some 3D shapes- Spheres and Cylinders.
After the TEAMS call, you could:
- go on a hunt around you house to see if you can find any spheres or cylinders.
- Challenge yourself to make a poster about spheres or cylinders.
Learning Superheroes!
We have been thinking about having a growth mindset- just like Gerald the giraffe! Gerald keep practising his dancing until he was able to do it and his didn't give up!
Sometimes it is hard to keep trying when we find something hard. In school we have made 'Learning Superheroes' who will help us to keep going when we are finding learning hard! They tell us to never give up and to learn from our mistakes! They help us to become learning superheroes ourselves.
You could make your own learning superhero to help you when you get stuck. Have a look at our superheroes that we made in class!
